Age of Information Under Frame Slotted ALOHA-Based Status Updating Protocol

We propose a frame slotted ALOHA (FSA)-based protocol for random access network where sources transmit status updates to their intended destinations. evaluate the effect of such on network’s timeliness performance using Age Information (AoI) metric. Specifically, we leverage tools from stochastic geometry model spatial positions source-destination pairs and capture entanglement amongst nodes’ spatial-temporal attributes through interference they caused each other. derive analytical expressions average variance AoI over typical transmission link in Poisson bipolar cellular networks, respectively. Our analysis shows that densely deployed FSA-based updating can significantly decrease addition, stabilizes age by substantially reducing AoI. Furthermore, under same frequency, converting into an one always leads reduction Moreover, implementing FSA conjunction with power control further benefit performance, although particular values framesize factor must be adequately tuned achieve optimal gain.
